The Best Foods For A Healthy Smile and Whole Body

You’ve probably heard the saying, “You are what you eat.”

And the saying is pretty accurate. Have you ever really thought about how what you eat affects your teeth?

Here are some of the best foods you can eat to keep your gums and teeth healthy and your smile bright for years to come.

  1. Cheese. Cheese has a lot of protein and not much sugar. It also has casein, which is a protein that helps protect tooth enamel.
  2. Crunchy vegetables. Carrots and celery come to mind. As you crunch on these kinds of vegetables, they clean your teeth and act like natural tooth floss. (Don’t forget to floss every morning and night, though!)
  3. Fish. Phosphorus is another important mineral that helps protect the enamel on your teeth. Common fish like salmon are full of it.
  4. Cranberries. Did you know that polyphenols are found in large amounts in cranberries? Polyphenols may help prevent plaque from building up because they are antioxidants.
  5. Nuts. Almonds and peanuts have a lot of calcium, but cashews may help you make more saliva, which is important for cleaning your teeth and gums of food that gets stuck there.
  6. Pears. Did you know that pears, unlike most other foods, can neutralise acids in the mouth that can cause cavities? When you need a quick bite to eat, you might want to try a pear.
